Our commitment to horses' welfare lends itself to being a resource for horses that need to be rehomed.  We offer access to experienced Instructors who can assess the suitability of a horse and weigh it against the experience level of a potential human partner.  We emphasize matching humans and horses who are compatible in personality (and horsenality!), skill, and talent, and offer the education and guidance to support the new relationship.

Siggi

Siggi is a 7 yr. old, 15’2 Registered Paint gelding.  His registered name is Don’t Go Breakin My Heart.  His athleticism and personality match his striking markings.  Siggi has a high play drive and is naturally curious and confident.  He can be ridden at a walk, trot, and canter, and on the trails, and has been playing with Parelli Natural Horsemanship for the last year and a half.  Siggi is very social with humans and other horses.  Siggi is boarded at The Horse First Farm.  Please call Gretchen at (608)772-1728 or email gretchen@thehorsefirst.net with any questions or for more info on Siggi.  

wildfire

Dakota Wildfire is a 2002 APHA registered gelding.  He is a bay with smooth gaits and natural carriage.  Wildfire is a LBE who needs a creative person to keep the "games" interesting.  He is light and responsive to pressure.  Under saddle, he walks, trots, and canter, can sidepass, and neck rein.  He's been ridden bareback and with a saddle, though due to college demands, has not been ridden recently.  Wildfire has been played with up to mid-level 2 in the Parelli program.  He has attended several clinics and small shows, and loads easily and travels well.  He has been kept barefoot and is sound with no health issues.  Wildfire currently lives near Eau Claire, WI.  Please contact Danielle at dauga041@umn.edu for more information.

for Lease

Interested in owning a horse, but would like to try the experience first?  We have several lease horse's available for half leases.  This means you pay half the expenses of the horse, $150/month, and you have access to the horse 3 days a week.  This opportunity is available on a limited basis.  Contact Gretchen for more information at gretchen@thehorsefirst.net
